Welcome to the Morning Mindset Podcast with me, craig Skelton. Each day, we kick off your morning with positivity, actionable insights and the motivation you need to conquer the day ahead. Whether you're looking to develop a positive mindset, habit, persistence or simply starting your day on the right foot, this podcast is your daily dose of inspirational and practical advice, and today's podcast is all about the power of a morning routine. Now, there is a saying that how you start your day is how you live your life. There's more truth in that than you might realise. Mornings are the foundation for everything that comes after. You might have heard how you start your day is how you live your life. There is more truth in that than you might realise. Mornings are the foundation of everything that comes after. The way you structure your first waking hour can either set you up for success or leave you feeling overwhelmed and reactive. So today I'm going to go through the importance of a morning routine, why it's so powerful and some specific habits you can build into your routine to truly set yourself up for the success. So why are mornings so critical? Mornings are a blank slate, a chance to reset your mind and energy before the world comes knocking on your door with all its demands. If you're someone who wakes up and immediately checks your phone or your inbox or the news, you're starting your day on the defense. You're reacting to the world and not taking control of it. What if you could take that first hour of the day and make it yours? What if you could create a space where you set your intentions, focus your mind to meet the challenges head on? I'm on a routine compass for your day, pointing you in the right direction, ensuring, whatever comes your way, you're anchored, you're focused and you're ready to handle it. It's about starting from a place of calm, clarity and purpose instead of chaos. I think of it this way the world doesn't owe you a good day. You might want to feel like that sometimes, but it doesn't owe you that. So you have to create it yourself, and that starts with how you handle your mornings.

Now let's look at consistency. A morning routine works not because of any one thing you do, but because of the habit itself. When you do something consistently becomes part of who you are. We tend to underestimate the small things, but let me tell you that small actions, done consistently, lead to massive results. Let's say your morning routine includes five minutes of meditation, 10 minutes of exercise and then 10 minutes of reading. That might not sound like a big deal in isolation, but over time, five minutes of meditation every single day, every morning, will sharpen your focus, reduce your stress and help you become more resilient. Those 10 minutes of exercise every morning, that's not just fitness, it's about discipline, it's a commitment to your health. And then reading for 10 minutes a day, that's like growth. You're feeding your mind with new ideas, knowledge and perspectives. By investing in yourself day after day, you create momentum, and momentum is one of the most powerful forces when it comes to success.

So once you go into a morning routine, it doesn't have to be complicated or time consuming. In fact, simplicity is the key. The goal is to design a routine that you can stick to, no matter how busy life gets. Here are some essential habits that they can transform your day.

Speaker 0:

The first thing is waking up early. Now. This is where it all starts, and waking up early gives you a head start on the day. There's a stillness in the early morning that you can't find later in the day. It's peaceful, it's quiet. Even if you're not a natural early bird and I'm not talking about 4am, 5am waking up earlier can have a profound impact on your productivity and your mindset. What time you wake up every day. Just go for 30 minutes early. It's not about waking because that's what successful people are meant to do. It's about carving out intentional time for yourself.

Speaker 0:

The second thing that I learned recently is about hydrate as soon as your body hydrates. Another thing I learned recently as soon as you wake up, your body is craving water. You've just gone several hours without it. So drinking a glass of water first thing in the morning it jumpstarts your metabolism, helps your body. It flushes out toxins. It's simple, but it's crucial. So, rather than going straight for your coffee or your tea, get some water in first.

And the next thing is mindfulness and meditation. Take a moment to yourself, whether that is through meditation, breathing or simply sit in silence without any distractions. This is your time to focus on your thoughts and intentions. Mindfulness helps reduce anxiety, increases clarity and sets a calm, deliberate tone for the rest of the day. You don't need to spend half an hour doing this. Just five minutes can make a huge difference. And that also helps in your morning routine is movement. Getting your body moving doesn't have to be a full workout, though if you do have time, then great. But even if it's just a short walk or stretching or yoga, it just helps get your blood flowing, increases your energy levels and it boosts your mood too. Exercise is one of the best ways to start your day with a sense of accomplishment.

Speaker 0:

The next thing is set intentions or review your goals. Take a few minutes to review your goals for the day. What is your focus? What are the most important things you need to accomplish right now? Set clear intentions. When you do that, you eliminate the decision fatigue that comes later in the day when things get busy. You start your day in exactly what you want to achieve, which is it's such a powerful motivator.

Speaker 0:

And the next thing is gratitude practice this is another thing that I learned recently is, before the world comes at you with demands, just take a moment to reflect on what you're grateful for. This simple practice shifts your mindset to a state of abundance. Gratitude is a powerful tool that rewires your brain to focus on what's going well in your life instead of dwelling on the challenges. It helps you approach your day with positivity and optimism. Then the next thing to do is feed your mind, whether it's reading a few pages of a book or listening to a podcast, it doesn't really matter but dedicate some time in the morning to learn and to grow. The key here is to like, consume something that will inspire or educate you. I'm not just talking about scrolling through your social media. It needs to inspire you or educate you. This sets the tone for a productive growth orientation. Now I know what you might be thinking.

Speaker 0:

This all sounds great, but I don't have time for a long, drawn out morning routine, and that's totally fine. Your morning routine should be customized to fit your life. It's about you. It's what your needs are. You don't need to do everything I just mentioned, in fact, just trying to have the opposite effect, leaving stress before this even started. Start small if you're new to morning routine. Just pick one or two, three habits to focus on. Maybe it's just waking up 15 minutes earlier to meditate and set your intentions, or maybe just start with a simple walk and gratitude journal. The key to all this is consistency and remember it's not about perfection, it's about progress.

A morning routine isn't just about checking off a list of tasks. It's about starting your day with intention, clarity and purpose. It's about taking control of your mindset before the world takes control of you. When you do that consistently over time, you'll see a ripple effect in every aspect, in every area of your life. So tomorrow morning, when you wake up, ask yourself how do I want to start the day? What can I do right now to set myself up for success? That's today's podcast. Thank you for joining me on the Morning Mindset. Hope you found some inspiration and practical tips to apply in your own life. Remember, it's all about small, intentional actions that lead to big changes. Have an amazing day, stay motivated, stay focused, stay positive and run your own race.
